“Calliope” 2014 Wins Silver Crown

In December, the 2014 issue of D-E’s literary arts magazine “Calliope” was awarded a Silver Crown by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association – one of 20 in the High School Magazine Silver Crown category, and one of 115 Silver Crowns overall.

Wax Museum 2014

The Living Wax Museum, a longstanding tradition at D-E, has been an annual eighth grade event for over 20 years, with students visiting Lower and Middle School classrooms as well as performing for visitors in the Silberfein Gym.

DELTA Courses 2015 – Enroll Now!

Launched in the fall of 2013, the Dwight-Englewood Learning and Teaching Annex (DELTA) is one of four divisions of Dwight-Englewood School offering open-enrollment courses for enrichment, advancement, or credit. Courses are designed to be multi-disciplinary in nature offering learning across a variety of disciplines for different age groups (including adults).

Dr. Oz Kicks Off “The Road to Well-Being” Speaker Series

Celebrated surgeon, media personality and D-E parent Dr. Mehmet Oz stopped by on Monday morning for a special assembly in the Large Gym of Modell’s Sports Complex to kick off D-E’s 2014-2015 School Speaker Series, “The Road to Well-Being.” Dr. Oz’s hour-long presentation on “Living the Good Life” urged students in grades 4 through 12, as well as the faculty, staff and parents in the audience, to make a positive impact on their health and outlook.

Visual Arts Faculty Exhibit 2014

The first Swartley Gallery exhibit of the 2014-2015 school year featured selected works by D-E Visual Arts faculty members Rachel Brusky, Marisol Diaz, Elisa Garcia, John McCabe, Lydia Scrivanich and Caitlyn Young. The exhibition opened September 22 and ran through October 30, and it featured a wide variety of themes and materials that our six faculty members use in their personal artwork.

D-E Celebrates Hispanic Heritage

In mid-October, all three divisions at D-E – Lower, Middle, and Upper – were treated to special assemblies sponsored by the School’s Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) and student club INSPIRE (Introducing New Solutions to Promote Integrity & Respect Everywhere). The assemblies were held in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which was celebrated from September 15 to October 15.

2014 Bulldog Classic Raises $122,348!

$122,348 was the magic number for this year’s edition of the Bulldog Classic, D-E’s annual special event whose net proceeds support our Student Financial Aid Fund. Presented by The Grace & Mercy Foundation, the 18th annual Classic took place on Monday, September 29, at Alpine Country Club in Demarest.
