Middle Schoolers Help “Strike Out” Leukemia

In early December, one of D-E’s Middle School HomeBase groups decided to direct their baking and fundraising skills toward a great cause: supporting research to end leukemia. Mrs. Luchs’ Homebase, which includes Anya Ganeshan ’23, Emily Jedell ’23, Karina Pink ’23, Jayden Morales ’23, Javier Ibarguer ’23, Eli Arougheti ’23 and Charlie Levine ’23 together baked items and ran a Middle School bake sale.  They also sold bracelets and raffle tickets to three Broadway hit shows (Kinky Boots, Significant Other, and Cagney) — and gave up their ‘time off’ during Parent-Teacher Conferences to sell the raffles in the lobby of Umpleby Hall. Special thanks to Emily’s family for providing help with the show raffles. In the end, these proactive MS students raised more than $2,300! All of the money was sent in honor of Charlie, for his Strike Out Leukemia fundraising page for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
