Dwight-Englewood School graduates succeed in a wide range of endeavors, from science and business, to writing and the arts. Many alumni maintain bonds with D-E, coming back to campus to share their experiences with students and other alumni. In an effort to expand the access our current students and young graduates have to the broad community of D-E alumni, the D-E Development office has launched D-E Alumni Horizons, a new program to help lead D-E students, young graduates and alumni, to their individual career path. Below is a description of the exciting events and programs that encompass D-E Alumni Horizons.
Recognizing the importance of a strong network in today’s professional world, the Development Office along with the Alumni Relations Committee Career Networking Subcommittee oversees a mentoring program that creates opportunities for young alumni to gain valuable career direction. The Career Mentor Program offers informational sessions with an alumnus/a. These sessions can provide consultation, networking, career trajectory information, and encouragement to college-age alumni mentees, who have identified specific areas of career interest and have been matched to the Mentor’s expertise. The Power Breakfast is an annual event that showcases the diverse careers of our outstanding alumni. Graduates of all ages return to campus during Senior Selectives to speak to current seniors providing a more in-depth look at their career paths, successes and insights. Each student participates in round table conversations with alumni of their choice in four 20 minute “power” intervals (introduction, conversation, question & answer).
SENIOR CLASS PANEL
The Dwight-Englewood School hosts an annual event (see photo above) in which a panel of college age alumni in various fields shares academic and professional advice with current seniors. Conversations include how to find on and off campus jobs, join clubs, research and get internships, make course selections and more. These topics all lead to building a resume and determining a career path, searching for a job, interviewing and networking. Current seniors are able to talk informally with the young alumni panelists in their areas of interest after the panel.

D-E encourages alumni to join the Alumni Group on LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com/groups/66049), to strengthen and extend their network of trusted contacts. Alumni can connect with over 450 fellow grads who can help them advance their career. Alumni can also post opportunities for internships and jobs on the site as well.
