Unusually brisk temperatures were countered with warm smiles the morning of Wednesday, May 28, when parents, faculty and staff members, alumni and friends gathered on Leggett Field for the annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch. The gathering, started in 2011, has become the traditional event to honor and thank those volunteers who contribute hundreds (if not thousands) of hours to the School in myriad capacities. Additionally, the Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to one or more individuals who have ‘worked selflessly on behalf of the D-E community’.
Head of School Dr. Rodney De Jarnett provided welcome remarks, during which he expressed appreciation for those individuals who give so much of their time and talents to the School. Dr. De Jarnett then officially recognized Patricia Arlin Bradley ’82, P ’08 & ’14; Margaret Ragi P ’14; Carol Reinfeld P’14; and Emmy Wexer P ’05 & ’14 as the recipients of the 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award. From participation within the D-E Parents’ Association as Class Reps, Executive Committee members, and Library and Coop volunteers… to their assistance with the Annual Fund and special fundraisers such as the bi-annual Fashion Show and Auction events, these four ‘wonder women’ certainly define the highest degree of committed voluntarism to D-E.
To all those who have volunteered this year at Dwight-Englewood School, and in particular to Patricia, Peggy, Carol, and Emmy: Thank you, and congratulations!
