D-E Hosts First On-Campus Robotics Meet Oct. 30

At 5 p.m. this Friday, D-E’s Robotics team, Team 207/Critical Mass, will welcome 11 other New Jersey FIRST Tech Challenge (NJ FTC) Northeast Region teams for the “Northern Nightmare II” Friday Afternoon Meet. It will be the first of what will surely be many robotics meets at the new Hajjar STEM Center, and teams will be traveling from schools in Oradell, Ridgewood, Newark and Livingston, to name a few.

According to Dr. Marco Pagnotta, Upper School Science teacher and Critical Mass’ faculty advisor, “This is a meet (as opposed to a qualifier). We will play five matches. Points awarded for wins or ties in each match will be added to a running season total and used at the end of the season to qualify for a chance to go to state finals.

“This is our first match of the season,” he continued, “And we hope to see how our bot performs during competition play and what modifications we need to make. (We also hope to win a few matches.)”

Best of luck to Critical Mass!
