When First Presbyterian Church of Englewood had a huge fire on March 22, the smoke damage extended to FPPK, the church’s preschool and kindergarten. Everything from art supplies to books to toys and musical instruments was lost.
D-E Lower School music teacher Mary Heveran discussed this terrible situation with her third grade students. The children decided to donate music instruments, through their yearlong service learning project, Third Graders Making a Difference. They picked small instruments from their own collections and extras in the music room to prepare a donation.
The students then hand-delivered the instruments to Pope Hall, where FPPK is now temporarily housed until the church can reopen.
