D-E’s literary and arts magazine, Calliope: Spring 2016 issue has won a Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Calliope Advisor Mr. Petkus writes,
“It’s just the fifth time in our school’s history we’ve received this honor, with the previous Crowns coming in 1982, 1993, 2011, and 2014. This award is a big deal: it represents recognition on a national level, with only 56 scholastic and collegiate magazines honored with Crowns out of 1,100 entries. I am so proud of the work of our students: the writers and artists who contributed their original pieces for the magazine, the staff who helped choose the content, and especially the four editors, who worked tirelessly last spring to shape Calliope 2016: Savannah DiGiovanni (’16), Noa Levin (’17), Nasrin Lin (’16), and Maxine Musto (’17).”
Mr. Petkus and the students will attend the awards presentation in the spring at Columbia University. Congratulations to Mr. Petkus and the Calliope team!
