Lauryn Fuld ’21, who has attended D-E since the 1st grade, enjoys challenging herself. She clearly works just as hard outside of school as well, in particular training and competing in TaeKwonDo and soccer. She started taking Karate classes in Newton, MA when she was four years old. When her family moved to NJ in 2009 she started studying TaeKwonDo (TKD), and she started competing regionally in 2010. Since 2011, Lauryn has been the running TKD NJ State Champion. This past summer, Lauryn was invited to attend a special Athlete’s Training Camp for a week at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO, alongside Olympians preparing for the Summer Games in Rio — an “amazing experience” in her words.
Moving on to the International level this past October, Lauryn competed at the ITF World Cup in Budapest, Hungary. Lauryn won the Silver Medal in sparring, and the Bronze in the Special Kicking Event competition. She now looks forward to competing at Nationals in 2017, and has also qualified for the National Team Trials this spring.
