fts of music,” Upper School students Joel Brody ’18 and Daniel Schwartz ’18 organized and led a donations drive earlier this year for Mission Music. The nonprofit distributes instruments and musical equipment to underprivileged families.
Students and families from all three divisions contributed to the effort. Joel shared, “Over the course of the drive, we received a wide variety of music-related instruments, including sheet music, numerous wind and string instruments, a few guitars, a keyboard, a set of harmonicas, and even a drum set.”
At the conclusion of the drive, Zachary Greer, President of Mission Music, met up with Joel and Daniel to collect the instruments (see photo below left).
Joel later expressed: “This has been incredibly gratifying because while we take music for granted, many people cannot afford to purchase instruments on their own, and rely on us to run drives like these to help out. It is really a shame that more people do not run fundraising drives as they aren’t terribly difficult to organize, and have extremely rewarding results.”
