D-E music ensembles ended their year on a high note! The All-School Spring Music Concert featured choral and handbell ensembles from both the Middle and Upper Schools, and the Lower School Chorus. An appreciative audience was treated to spirited songs and medleys including "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!" The concert finished off with a lively, outdoor performance by our Grade 7 and Grade 8 African Drumming Ensembles, which encouraged everyone to join in a fun group dance around Leggett Field. And in Swartley Art Gallery, original artworks by the Class of 2022 were showcased in the annual Senior Spotlight Exhibit, including ceramics, watercolors, photography, and more. Commencement for the Class of 2022 took place on Sunday, June 5. The ceremony included remarks from special speakers including nonprofit Harlem Run founder, activist and D-E alumna Alison Maribella Desire '03; a memorable senior speech by Charlie Spitzley '22, readings from Sunaya Mueller '22 and Jonathan Toumit '22; and farewell words of reflection from Joseph Algrant, Upper School Principal. At the end of the ceremony, as per D-E tradition, D-E faculty and staff formed a color guard line to greet each new graduate, who then rang the same D-E ceremonial bell -- the same bell that they rang when they started their time in the Upper School more than four years ago. Congratulations to D-E's Class of 2022! To learn more about D-E, including our mission and values
