Reynolds’ book, “The Dot—that encourages people of all ages to “make their mark” and discover the power of their own potential and creativity.” After listening to the story, sixth graders were introduced to D-E’s Human Ed qualities of curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, initiative, perseverance, and engagement by Ms. Larionoff, Innovation Coordinator, and were tasked with making connections between these traits and the characters in the book. Each student then decorated a paper plate “dot” to be incorporated into a larger wall display designed by Chloe D. ’31 and Ellie S. ’32. “It is now hanging in the Middle School, reminding everyone that we are part of a community,” remarked Ms. Larionoff. What a beautiful reflection of art in action!
