Club Être Celebrates the ‘Day of the Girl’ at Nasdaq

Club Être, a chapter of the greater Être organization run by D-E alumna Illana Raia ’86 and led by student leaders Anna Ibargüen ’26, Ella Siew ’26, and Daniela Hochstadt ’28, recently took a field trip to Nasdaq headquarters in New York. They were invited by the Golden Globe Foundation to celebrate the “Day of The Girl” and witness the opening of the market and bell-ringing ceremony at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square. Later, they were given a tour of the Nasdaq building and listened to a female-led panel presentation featuring two Nasdaq employees and a representative from the Golden Globes. “This field trip helped us learn about possible career paths we might want to pursue in our future and allowed us to meet amazing women [who excel in their professions],” said Daniela, who added that opportunities like this help D-E students foster a desire for lifelong learning. Anna remarked that her personal highlight was hearing from the panelists about being a young woman in a male-dominated professional setting like finance and economics. “We got a lot of advice about holding your own ground, letting your work speak for your qualifications, and the importance of networking,” said Anna. “‘If you can see her, you can be her’ is one of the motivations behind a club like ours… [This] is so inspiring and shows us that there really is a world of possibilities out there!”
