Swartley Gallery LS Exhibit Showcases “How’s It Done”

Dec 10, 2025 | Art & Design, Recent News

We celebrated our youngest visionaries today during a breakfast reception for the Swartley Gallery’s “How’s It Done?” showcase, curated by Ms. Christine Hanaway Maloney, Lower School (LS) Art & Design Teacher. The exhibition, on view now through Friday, Dec. 19, provides a glimpse into the LS Art Studio and highlights the process of creating artwork. The beautifully vibrant pieces range from self-portraits to 3D art displayed in flower vases. “Each grade participated in a collaborative project that provided a salubrious space for young artists to appreciate being part of a creative team,” explained Ms. Maloney. “In this way, we find artmaking a way to grow and explore together.” Mr. James Choi, LS Principal, who attended the reception, said he appreciates how LS students are introduced to different artists, styles, techniques, and media. “In the process,” he added, “students build and learn new skills while also creating really great art that is uplifting and super fun to look at.” We applaud our community of learners in the LS for sharing their work—creativity takes courage!
