Families and friends of our Middle School (MS) Show Choir recently experienced a workshop-style live concert centered on the works of famed writer Edgar Allan Poe. Director Olivia Lionetti shared with the audience that the performance, titled “The Tales & Tunes of Edgar Allan Poe,” was first designed and then evolved as a mixed-media production, involving readings, dramatic interpretations, and, of course, singing. In a nod to Poe’s classic gothic horror themes and dark writing style, the performance included students sharing their own intriguing alternative endings to the timeless “The Tell-Tale Heart”; rapping to words inspired by “The Raven” (“Nevermore, Nevermore, Nevermore”); and sharing excerpts from “The Fall of the House of Usher” with an homage to 6-7.
