Last week we had the pleasure of having Dr. Elisabeth-Becker Topkara and Dr. Rachel Wahl (pictured) on campus to speak with our Middle and Upper School students. Dr. Topkara is a Fellow/Assistant Professor at the Max Weber Institute of Sociology and a scholar of Jewish-Muslim relationships. Dr. Wahl is an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development. Dr. Topkara talked to students about how personal stories can create connections. Dr. Wahl came in during the MIddle School Diversity day to talk with both divisions about dialogue, democracy, and managing conflict. Thank you to our DEIB (Diversity Equity Inclusion & Belonging Office) and Upper School Club INSPIRE for coordinating these visits. For more about diversity initiatives at D-E, visit d-e.org/diversity
