Snow Much Fun!  Annual US Ski Trip to Smuggler’s Notch

Jan 22, 2025 | Athletic Highlights, D-E Traditions, Recent News

The annual Upper School ski trip to Smuggler’s Notch held up to D-E tradition once again this year! 45 students from Grades 9-12 and 4 chaperones (Mr. Joe Iwanski, Mr. Fred Fontaine, Mr. Paul Edwards, and Mrs. Eileen Feikens) recently ventured to Vermont for the 3rd year in a row and 5th year overall. The group experienced “beautiful conditions” according to Mr. Iwanski, enjoying both skiing and snowboarding.

Prisha Vora ‘26 shared “(This trip) for me is a fantastic way to connect with and build relationships across different grades. This year, in particular, the bus ride back became a bonding experience in itself as the heating was on full blast to ensure safe conditions on the road. Moreover, the relaxed and caring chaperones made the trip an absolute blast once again!”

Mia Merino Aviles ‘27 added, “I went on the trip for the first time last year, not knowing how to ski, and finished the trip with a solid run down a green. This year I went down my first full blue! With the help of many friends, of course, I am overall so lucky to have had this experience. I love making it a yearly activity now and look forward to next year’s trip!”

Even though the trip was cut short a little by the impending winter storm in NJ, the group clearly had a great time. CHEERS to our chaperones and host program D-E 360° for hosting a trip that was ‘snow’ much fun!
