Ice Hockey Club Team Wins in Riverdale Rematch!

Feb 11, 2025 | Athletic Highlights, Recent News

Yesterday our Bulldog Ice Hockey Club Team secured a big win during a rematch against the Riverdale Falcons at the Englewood Field Club, despite a player deficit. We fielded only nine players, two of whom were goalies Alex Sheffield ’26 and Max Band ’28, giving us just seven skaters to take on a much more robust Riverdale bench. “Everyone got a ton of playing time, to put it mildly! And by the end, everyone was out of breath, exhausted, but thrilled to have earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory,” says US Teacher and Coach Joe Iwanski.

Goals were scored by Michael Gelman ’25 and twins Mason and Spencer Sternhell (not from D-E, but who play for our team), respectively, while senior Wyatt Obergfoll ’25 contributed two assists. Adds Mr. Iwanski, “Team captain Presley Arnone ’25, Teddy Cunha ’28, and Jacob Baldachin ’27 also had huge contributions with stellar play and constant denial of Falcon skaters in the offensive and defensive zones.” Go Bulldogs—let’s savor this incredible team effort!!
