On Sunday, nine students from D-E 360°’s ACE Chess Program attended and had a great showing at the NJ State Elementary Scholastic Championships at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft. “It was a fun, all-day chess event,” says Coach Mackenzie “Mac” Molner. There were five students from D-E in the grade K-2 section and four in the Grade 3-5 section. “The K through 2nd grade team won 5th place in the State and got a nice trophy to go with it,” says Coach Mac. “Considering that most of the team were kindergarteners that played a lot of older kids, it was a very good result.” Our Grade 3-5 team also had a good tournament and narrowly missed out on a team trophy. Congrats to Coach Mac and our chessmasters-in-the-making!
