D-E Celebrates “Pi Day”

Mar 17, 2025 | Behind the Numbers (Mathematics), D-E Traditions, Recent News

Today may be St. Patrick’s Day (Sláinte!), but D-E recently celebrated another beloved holiday that brings smiles to math fans everywhere—Pi Day! On March 14, in honor of the mathematical constant that begins with 3.14, we set up some collaborative board games, logic puzzles, and card games that involve numbers in The Imperatore Library, said Innovation Coordinator Colleen Larionoff. “We wanted students to have a laid-back afternoon ahead of the spring break to focus on community building around math and STEAM.” She enlisted a few Middle School students to assist in selecting the activities for Pi Day, including Defne V. ’29, who shared, “We’ve been learning about Pi in math class, and this was a fun way to learn more about it.” The cherry on top? Slices of fresh apple pie that Chef Alex and his team made for the D-E community! Yum!
