CCO Junior Families College Night Recap

Apr 10, 2025 | D-E Traditions, Our Community of Learners, Recent News

This week D-E’s College Counseling Office (CCO) hosted a well-attended Junior Families College Night for our Class of 2026. “We were thrilled to welcome close to 100 different colleges from all over the country and even some from Canada, Spain, Scotland, and Switzerland,” said Dean of College Counseling Eileen Cunningham Feikens. “This event is a wonderful capstone to our College Knowledge course through which students can apply all that they learn in a real-world setting.”

Ella Mansager ’26, who attended the event with her mother, shared that “a majority of the reps were recent college graduates and were able to more accurately relate to us in terms of what the college process feels like in this time, and the cool opportunities they were personally able to experience at their college.” She added that this allowed for deeper conversations and the ability to build stronger connections with the representatives.

“We really appreciated the opportunity to engage in the college fair,” said Shauna Liu, a D-E parent of Jared Liu ’26 as well as Ava ’24 and Chloe ’22. “We accomplished in 90 minutes what could have easily required weeks or months of research. Just when we thought we knew what we needed to know about schools having gone through this twice before, we were pleasantly surprised that there was more to hear and new schools to learn about.” Special thanks to our hard-working CCO Team for facilitating such a rewarding experience for our Juniors!
