May 9, 2025 | Athletic Highlights, Recent News, School Life Highlights

D-E’s Athletic Department recently hosted a Senior Athletes Signing Ceremony yesterday in the Myrna B. Sherman Gymnasium. The event recognizes graduating student-athletes who’ve committed to play at the college level. Athletic Director JD Sand first welcomed attendees which included both Upper and Middle School students, faculty/staff, coaches, and athletes’ families. Upper School Principal Kim Lalli then provided congratulatory remarks. Each student-athlete honoree was then welcomed to the stage for a ceremonial signing and personal congratulations from Interim Head of School Preeti Fibiger. This year’s honorees, introduced by Associate Athletic Director Dat Phan, were William Altirs (Soccer), attending Yale University; Dusan Dobric (Basketball), attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Leah Hong (Field Hockey), attending Williams College; Emma Hsu (Track and Field), attending Babson College; Jack Park (Track and Field), attending Wesleyan University; and Zoe Yao (Tennis), attending Williams College. “To be a collegiate athlete is something that is really special,” said Mr. Sand. “This recognition is not something that is given, but something that is earned… this event is our way to say we’re thrilled for you… and we will always have a home for you at D-E.”
