7th Graders Explore & Exhibit “The Anatomy of a Human”

Mar 14, 2025 | Recent News, Seasonal Scenes

Visiting parents, faculty, and Lower School students were all ears today during “The Anatomy of a Human Exhibit”  in the Middle School, as 7th graders eagerly talked about the body systems depicted in the life-size diagrams they worked on, and how their home life or environmental factors could impact these systems.

Joshua De Los Santos, Middle School Math & Science Teacher, explains that this is a unique, interdisciplinary event tied to students’ MESH (Math, English, Science, and History) classes that culminates with this showcase. All 7th graders read Reyna Grande’s memoir, The Distance Between Us, and were tasked with centering their diagrams on one of the characters in the story. “Students were to demonstrate how their characters’ bodies were changed because of their life events,” says Mr. De Los Santos.

Ella G. ’30, who was on a team with Theo S. ’30, Ella W. ’30, and Mason M. ’30, says her group’s portrayal of the Endocrine System represented Reyna’s father, who was in poor health. Ella G. says through this project she learned about the prevalence of Type II Diabetes. Fellow classmate Sia S. ’30, who partnered with Vikram S. ’30 and Sophia K. ’30, researched the Skeletal System for her display and remarked on how combining different subjects for a single project “taught us about teamwork and collaboration with others.” Let’s give our dedicated 7th graders a pat on the back for all their hard work!
