Cheers to our 2025 Cum Laude Society inductees, who were recently honored at a special dinner in Hajjar Auditorium! D-E has a nearly 80-year tradition of celebrating students for this academic achievement. After a warm welcome from Interim Head of School Preeti Fibiger and opening remarks from Mr. Jeremy Meserole, Chair, English Department, who also serves as President of the D-E Cum Laude Chapter, 25 of our best and brightest in the senior class received a certificate and the distinguished Cum Laude pin, which Mr. Meserole called “a big deal.”
Mr. Jack Armitage, Director of Program Scheduling and Mathematics Department faculty member, who also serves as D-E Cum Laude Chapter Secretary, facilitated introductions by the faculty/staff of their current and former pupils. Our educators told moving, funny, and reflective stories about the students of the hour. Tenacious, compassionate, problem-solving, consistent, and remarkable were just a few of the words that were used; highlighted attributes included having an iron will and impeccable work ethic and being a true humanist and destined for great things. “These students model what it means to live an intellectual life,” said Mr. Meserole, who encouraged inductees to “take what you’ve learned here to improve society.” Upper School Principal Kim Lalli closed the ceremony by thanking speakers and students for “being leaders in the classroom.” We’re incredibly proud of our lifelong learners!
