South Asian Lower School Students Observe Diwali

Oct 22, 2025 | Affinity Group Activities, Recent News

Happy Festival of Lights! This week South Asian Lower School (LS) students observed Diwali by dressing in traditional attire. Primarily a Hindu festival, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness and is celebrated by illuminating one’s home with oil lamps, candles, and lanterns. “For many families, today is either the day that many in the South Asian community celebrate their New Year, or it is the last day of festivities,” explains Ms. Simone Henry, Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging for the Lower School and Middle School. We wish all who celebrate in our community a peaceful and bright Diwali!
