Even during a hybrid-learning year, our student-athletes nevertheless shined on and off the field. With new PRs, team wins, and new challenges, we are so proud of what Bulldogs were able to accomplish. Take a look back on the biggest highlights of all sports seasons here. Go Bulldogs!

 

WINTER SPORTS 2020-2021

BOYS’ VARSITY BASKETBALL |

FEB, 15, 2021

The D-E Boys’ Varsity basketball team defeated Leonia 62-47 led by junior standout, David Mager ’22, with 22 points, and the emergence of sophomore forward, Vaughn Foster ’23, with an 18 point and 12 rebound double-double effort.

The team’s defense was outstanding following the lead of junior guard Tyler Koutros ’22. Enjoy this highlight video!

GIRLS’ VARSITY BASKETBALL | FEB, 15, 2021

The D-E Girls Varsity basketball team defeated Bogota 58-45 in a collective team effort led by sophomores Karina Pink ’22 & Montana Nicks ’23 with 17 & 13 points points respectively and 14 rebounds by senior Lilah Gmyrek! Enjoy this highlight video. Go Bulldogs!

BOYS’ VARSITY BASKETBALL | MARCH 1, 2021

Score! The Bulldogs defeated Newark Academy (66-50) on Senior Appreciation Day. Vaughn Foster ‘23David Mager, ‘22 and Senior, Sam Lieberman ‘21 scored over 33 points and over 18 rebounds in total. Go Boys’ Basketball! Go Bulldogs!

GIRLS’ VARSITY BASKETBALL | MARCH 1, 2021

D-E Girls’ Varsity basketball took their first loss against Newark Academy (31-37). The Bulldogs fought to the very end with incredible efforts by Karina Pink ‘22, Montana Nicks ‘23, and seniors, Lilah Gmyrek ‘21 and Lexi Levine ‘21. Go Girls’ Basketball! Go Bulldogs!

Wow! D-E Girls Varsity volleyball defeated New Milford 2-1. Senior, Bella Brown ‘21 scored an astonishing 16 kills, 15 service points, & 6 aces! Go Bella! Go Bulldogs!

D-E CREW | MAY 1, 2021

Congratulations to the D-E Crew team for an outstanding scrimmage at Overpeck Park. Our men’s Double (Ethan Brody ’23 and Nick Rubinstein ’23) and women’s double (Beatrice Gouverneur ’23 and Maddy Johnston ’23) displayed extreme talent in their respective races.  Senior, Paul Philliou ‘21 came in 3rd in their scrimmage against Trinity and Hackensack rowers. D-E’s Boys’ Golf Team was ranked #12 for the Top 15 NJIC League Tournament contenders! Dylan Gallagher ‘22 and William Rich ‘22 both averaged in the 30s, winning 172-203 against Midland Park as a team. Go, Dylan! Go, William!

GIRLS’ LACROSSE STUDENT-ATHLETE SHOUTOUT, MAY 1, 2021:  

Let’s go! D-E Girls’ Lacrosse won against Tenafly, finishing 12-5! Lexi Levine ‘21, Brielle Bronstein ‘21 together 8 goals, while Gaby Carballo ‘24 blocked an incredible 11 shots in net. Go, Lexi! Go, Brielle! Go, Gaby! Go, Bulldogs!

BOYS’ LACROSSE STUDENT-ATHLETE SHOUTOUT,

MAY 7, 2021:  

Goalkeeper Jack Berg ‘21 was selected by NJ.com as NJ Boys Lacrosse Player of the Week April 25 – May 1!  This Spring 2021 Jack had 168 total saves! Berg showed off his versatility last week in leading the Bulldogs to wins over Paramus Catholic and Park Ridge/Emerson. He stopped 12 of 17 shots (.706) and scored two goals of his own. Go, Jack! Go Bulldogs!

GIRLS’ LACROSSE STUDENT-ATHLETE SHOUTOUT:  

Lexi Levine ‘21 was selected by NJ.com as a Top 100 Senior in NJ Girls’ Lacrosse in May 2021! This Spring 2021 Lexi scored 33 Goals!  Go, Lexi! Go Bulldogs!

Dave Miller ‘21 was selected by NJ.com as Player of the Week in April!  Dave threw a complete game, 1-hit ShutOut in a win vs. Bergen Charter. He struck-out 13 and walked 2. Go, Dave! Go Bulldogs!

Congratulations to D-E Baseball for earning their entry into the Bergen County Baseball Tournament!  The Bulldogs beat Indian Hills 7-0  in an exciting Shut-Out game, to advance past Round 1 of the Tourney and they next face WoodRidge for Round 2! Go Bulldogs!

MAY 14, 2021:

Dylan Gallagher ‘22 floored the competition, being one of only nine golfers to shoot 79 or better with his 72. Dylan is known to hit an astounding 300 yards off the tee, thanks to his experience with hockey. Go, Dylan! Go Bulldogs!

D-E Boys’ Baseball pulled off a huge upset at the County Tournament against the #9 seed, Indian Hills (7-0). Beau Rottmann ‘21 led the team with 6.2 innings of 2 hit ball with 9 strikeouts, while David Miller ‘21 had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Go, Beau! Go, David! Go Bulldogs!

GIRLS AND BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD, MAY 15, 2021: 

The Bulldog Tracksters finished their dual meet season with a record of 3-3! The girls’ and boys’ teams competed hard and shattered many Personal Records across all events. Go D-E Track & Field! Go Bulldogs!

D-E ULTIMATE FRISBEE TEAM SHOUT-OUT, MAY 15, 2021: 

D-E Ultimate earned the #4 seed in the NJ High School Ultimate State Championship tournament. In the semi-finals, the Plastic Bulldogs faced Columbia’s top team, undefeated, nationally ranked, first in the state, and two-time defending state champions. The Bulldogs ended their Spring season with a 9-4 record, finishing in a 3rd place tie, the best finish in D-E history! Go D-E Ultimate! Go Bulldogs!

1st doubles team captain Ryan Lee ‘22 and Davide Orlov ‘24, 2nd doubles Griffin Cooper ‘22 and Raj Solanky ‘23 all advanced to the quarterfinals. Finally, 3rd singles Armaan Pamani ‘22 advanced to the semifinals! Go, Ryan and Davide! Go, Griffin and Raj! Go, Armaan! Go Bulldogs!

BOYS’ VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM SHOUTOUT, MAY 19, 2021:

D-E Varsity Boys’ Baseball made huge strides this season, being the 3rd season in D-E’s history to the Bergen County Tournament. Despite their loss against Wood-Ridge (6-4), this season has been one of the best yet at 10-4 with more to come! Go Bulldogs!

D-E ULTIMATE FRISBEE TEAM SHOUTOUT, MAY 24, 2021:

History in the making! D-E’s Ultimate Frisbee team earned the #4 seed in the NJ High School Ultimate State Championship Tournament–the highest ranking the team going into the tournament. Go Bulldogs!

GIRLS AND BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD, MAY 24, 2021:

D-E Track & Field made an excellent appearance at the County Invitational. Jibrael Harrell ‘21 placed 2nd in the 400M. For Discus, Joseph Saponaro ‘21 placed 2nd with a score of 116m, while Joseph Chung ‘22 placed 3rd with a distance of 110m. Keep it going to the Championship! Go Bulldogs! his scoring output to a team high of 30 goals, while Jack sported a .645 save percentage this season. The future looks bright for winning the league title! Go, Gavin! Go, Jack! Go Bulldogs!

What an incredible season! D-E Boys’ Lacrosse were undefeated, winning the Cullen Division title. D-E Boys’ Tennis also remained undefeated, receiving the NJIC Patriot Division title. D-E Boys’ Basketball is ready to take the NJIC Liberty Division title with their next victory against Butler High School. Go Bulldogs!
