We’re in business! On Thursday, Dec. 12, D-E’s 6th-grade enTREPreneurs successfully acted the part of small business owners at the TREP$ Marketplace in Wharton Lessin Dining Hall, as they set up and promoted wares that they spent the last two months planning and making. When necessary, they borrowed equipment, troubleshooted issues, and negotiated on pricing. On offer were handpainted pet rocks (aka ‘friends for life’), hot wings, baked goods, cotton candy, boba tea, homemade soaps, tie-dye socks, custom woodcuts, and more. Proceeds will benefit a charity of students’ choice. Olivia G. and Virginia B. created their business, LaJeannette Chocolatier, because “I know how to make brownies really well,” says Olivia. As for what she took away from TREP$, she says, “I learned how to appreciate the big-batch cooking that commercial chefs do, and that I would like to do this in the future.” Fantastic job, everyone!
