Critical Mass US Robotics Team Now Headed to State

Feb 25, 2025 | Recent News, Tech & Robotics

On Sunday, our Upper School (US) Robotics Teams, Critical Mass (Varsity) and Absolute Zero (JV), competed in the Bergen County League Tournament in Emerson, NJ. According to US Robotics Coach Chris Fleischl, in qualification matches, Critical Mass held a record of 4-1 and qualified as the 3rd seed captain for elimination rounds. Meanwhile, Absolute Zero finished with a record of 2-3 and partnered with the 2nd seed captain. In the elimination rounds, both teams faced off against each other, and in a match decided by the tightest margins of the day, Critical Mass prevailed, eliminating Absolute Zero and their partner.

“Although Critical Mass was ultimately defeated in the finals, they proudly earned two judged awards—Inspire 2nd Place, which honors teams for overall performance, and the Connect Award, which recognizes teams that build engineering relationships within their community,” said Mr. Fleischl. As a result of these awards and their overall performance, Critical Mass earned advancement to the State Championship on Sunday, March 16, at Hillsborough High School. Congratulations to both teams for their perseverance—and good luck to Critical Mass at the State matchups!
