D-E’s Ethics Bowl Team is headed to Nationals for the first time in 14 years! After winning a virtual match in the Northeastern Division, our team, coached by Philosophy and Ethics Department Chair Joseph Murphy, is heading to North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the National Championship in April! Our state champions played a single round playoff against the winning team from the Ohio tournament. Topics “ranged from parental obligations to their kids when choosing activities… [to the ethics of] AI,” explains team leader Bap Louis ’25.
Fellow senior Steven Cui ’25 says he attributes the team’s win to a variety of factors: “In our preparation meetings, we allowed our individual ideas to collide as we collectively worked towards forming reasonings that were cohesive and rigorous. Above all, we were not afraid to be authentic. Each time that a judge challenged our point of view, we didn’t hesitate to show genuine curiosity and thoughtfulness. Ethics Bowl is as much about listening as it is about speaking.” Congratulations to our nimble D-E team and good luck at Nationals!!
