Art-tastic! The Swartley Gallery displayed multimedia work from our Lower School art students as part of the “Keep the High Five Alive” showcase, curated by Ms. Christine Hanaway Maloney. First graders experimented with colors and patterns by painting squares resembling stained glass; second graders, who took a field trip to The Cloisters in New York, painted and repurposed glass containers to contain seedlings they planted; and third and fourth graders created block-printing art, loosely based on the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals, including climate action and good health and well-being. Meanwhile, fifth graders were featured in video art that represented creative partnership and collaboration. Ms. Maloney said this showcase was an opportunity for some of our youngest artists to share their work with the community. “Exhibition is an important part of making,” she remarked.
