This year’s Eighth Grade Living Wax Museum, facilitated by English Department Faculty Mr. Gautham Akula and Ms. Amanda Burnett, showcased historical figures selected by students. Each student dressed the part and gave a well-rehearsed presentation to families and other visitors in the voice of these figures, providing insight into the personal and professional lives of their chosen subjects. “Students do the research to decide who is worth representing and commemorating,” explained Ms. Burnett. “The performance aspect gets them out of their shells,” she added. Among the individuals brought to life were artist Claude Monet, singer-songwriter James Brown, novelist Agatha Christie, 19th-century computer programmer Ada Lovelace, founding father Alexander Hamilton, film and fashion icon Audrey Hepburn, and William “Bill” Thaw, an American combat aviator who served in World War I.
