Greetings Middle School Families,

Welcome to May!  Hard to believe that we are near the end of the school year already.

Tomorrow will feature the return of “Car line coffee.”  For anyone who wants to swing by, grab a cup of Joe, and have a conversation with other Middle School parents, stop in the Umpleby parking lot 7:50-8:45.  I promise it will be much warmer than when we did this in the fall!

Thursday, May 16 & Friday, May 17 will feature the Middle School Musical, Once on This Island.  Our Grade 6-8 students have been working hard for months in preparation for the show, and I’m looking forward to seeing the final product.  Tickets are on sale for advance purchase now (click here for the Ticket Order Form) and also will be on sale in the School Store starting Monday, May 13 and at the door 30 minutes prior to curtain.  For the entire Middle School, there will be no homework or tests on Friday, 5/17, which will make it easier to attend opening night.  Come see a great show and support our Middle School arts program.

Friday, May 31, is a special day for the school and is a student dress up day.  There will be two “formal” assemblies that day, and students are expected to be dressed for the occasion.  Collared shirts, dress pants, knee length dresses, and the like are the order of the day.  Any help getting the students dressed appropriately is appreciated.

The last week of school has a few calendar points that need highlighting.  Thursday, June 6 is the final day of school for all students, and we are operating a dual dismissal on that day.  Students can either be picked up at 1:00, or they can head home at regular dismissal time.  The morning will be field day events.  Buses roll at their normal afternoon times.  A big reminder that Friday, June 7 has no school.  So we end like we begin, with a four day week.

Finally, please note: The School has adjusted when the gates around campus will be open.  The entrance on N. Woodland will be open for drop off and pick up hours.  However, after 4:00, that gate will remain closed for the rest of the day.  When N. Woodland is closed, all traffic should enter the 81 Lincoln St. Gate.  The traffic flows up the connector road through school with the (only) exit at the E. Palisades Avenue autogate, just past Umpleby.  Please be aware of this change in traffic patterns.

See you around campus soon!
