INDEPENDENT RESEARCH

Our students go above and beyond to follow their curiosity, using technology and problem-solving to lead their way. The 2020-2021 school year was unlike any other school year. In the midst of a pandemic, students still pushed themselves to think critically and creatively. We are so proud of our Bulldog engineers, scientists, leaders, and changemakers. Go Bulldogs!

Student Spotlight, March

HyunWoo Ryan Ro ‘22 conducted an independent research project titled “Developing an IoT-based microcontroller monitoring system optimized for car cabin.”  He presented at the New Jersey Regional Science Fair, where he won numerous awards. Congratualtions, HyunWoo! 

– 3rd place, Engineering
– David S. Young Memorial Award for excellence

in the area of electrical engineering.
– Field Research Award for research conducted
in the field rather than a laboratory
– Naval Science Awards for research in areas
of interest
to the Navy

MARCH STUDENT SPOTLIGHT:

Soham Bafana ‘25 created an assistive device that detects when the bathroom is in use and broadcasts reminders to the user, such as to wash hands or turn off the light. This provides increased bathroom independence for people with Alzheimer’s.
