D-E student leaders connect to create change! Seven Upper School students traveled to Washington, DC, earlier this month to participate in the NAIS Student Civic Leadership Summit in partnership with the Close-Up Foundation. Caroline Choi ’25, Anna Ibarguen ’26, Nick Rhee ’25, Derin Sezgin ’28, Grace Tomin ’26, Evan Wang ’28, and Wynn Wesley ’26 were accompanied by Ms. Katie Cannito, Human Development Teacher; Ms. Diane Christian, English Teacher; Mr. Peter Waltman, History Teacher; and Dr. Marcus Ingram, Director of DEIB. “The group was divided into two issue areas, focusing their learning and planning efforts on mental health and poverty,” says Dr. Ingram, who organized the field trip. “Each group worked to create an implementable strategy for their local community upon return, and we are meeting [later this week] to carry those conversations forward.” We love it when our students embody D-E’s core value of commitment!
