DWIGHT ’68

Aug 30, 2018 | Our Community of Learners

Allie Kissam Delventhal sent in this summary from the recent Class of 1968 50th reunion held this past June: “Thanks to DES, in particular Maria Sanchez Gardner, the Alumni Office, and Dr. Rodney De Jarnett, Head of School, as well as all of the classmates who were able to attend our 50th reunion, for creating such a memorable event!

“Interacting with class members after so many years brought back numerous memories, aided by the memorabilia shared by several attendees. We were able to simply pick up where we had left off half a century ago and enjoy hearing about the accomplishments of our talented classmates. Witnessing the evolution of the school was dramatic, and we can be proud of the part we played in its history.

“Thanks also to the classmates who donated to our class gift, the Memorial Fund, in honor of our deceased classmates. Dr. De Jarnett mentioned how grateful the school was for our contributions and told a story of a student who was aided by this fund.

“Finally, many thanks to Cookie Eisenberg Friedlander D ’66, Amy Eisenberg’s sister, who donated a painting she had created in memory of Amy and made a beautiful dedication speech during our school tour.

“Hopefully the reunion has energized us to keep in better touch in the years ahead—keep those updates coming!”

Allie also reports that Bernita Gerson Radabaugh has been in touch: “Bernita gave me her updated email and phone number. If anyone would like to contact her, I will pass them along to you.”

Bernita’s update is as follows: “I went to Dwight 7th through 10th grades, then graduated from Eastside High, and eventually Boston University. I now live on my farm in Blairstown, a beautiful area of New Jersey. I was widowed three years ago after a very happy marriage. Sadly, my husband died of prostate cancer after a long illness. My property keeps me very busy, but being alone is no fun. I recently opened my old yearbooks, and it seems like another lifetime.”
