Trick or Treat!

Trick or Treat!  During the month of September, Lower School families not only showed how much Halloween spirit they have, but how much of the spirit of giving they have as well.  At the end of last year, Third Graders Making a Difference asked the whole Lower School to gather their gently used Halloween costumes and props.  When we returned in September, third graders counted and sorted costumes of all sizes and types. There were witches and pumpkins and superheroes and many more. For many third graders, this was a wonderful opportunity to see the power of giving.  Students reached out to family members and neighbors in hopes of helping even more people.  One third grader said, “When I go Halloween costume shopping, I am really excited, and to be able to make other people feel as excited as me, makes me feel happy.” Another student added, “It felt good helping others because we’re giving back.”  Because of your help, we collected an astounding 309 costumes and 173 props. For the second year in a row, the costumes will be donated to the Bergen Family Center, right here in Englewood.  The BFC will hold a “pop up shop” where families in need can “shop” for (free) Halloween costumes. Thanks to your support, so many children can now have the joy of dressing up and trick or treating in their new costumes.
