“Purple Playground”

At the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year it became apparent to students, faculty and administration that our “Purple Playground” was due for some reimagining.  As always, when the Lower School plans for spaces used by children, we solicit their ideas and feedback. An advisory committee of six, fourth grade students was formed, and they spent several months researching equipment, speaking with the DE facilities team about space and safety considerations and meeting with Christian (our representative from Kompan, the company that provides our playground equipment). The students – along with Ms. Lewis and Ms. Abramson – selected several pieces they thought would be fun (and safe!) for a range of ages, and over the summer the new equipment was installed for everyone to enjoy. One of the best things about the start of the 2019 school year has been the beautiful weather, and almost every day, students have been able to  spin, climb higher, jump further, invent games and push themselves to try new things at recess. They are having a blast, and we love watching them play!
